About the walk

With the small city of Truro as our starting point, the 2022 Walk will take us through a very different Cornwall to the Penzance area of the 2016 National Walk.

Variety is decidedly the theme: from the city centre and cathedral, to creekside paths, National Trust woodland and views over the navigable waters of the Truro River, to a mining heritage trail.

We have 3 circular walks, one of around 25 miles, a shorter roughly 13 mile option and a 7.5 mile (city) route, all starting from Truro College, Truro, TR1 3XX, where there is plenty of parking.

Registration for walks will open at 7am, and close at 8:30 am:

The long walk (25 mile) will start from 7:00 am and we advise walkers should have set off by 8:30 am to reach the final checkpoint in good time for the evening event.

The mid-distance (13 mile) and the short walk will start at 8:30 am, which should allow time to see everyone through the final checkpoint.

There will be checkpoints with snacks available at no extra cost on all routes.

Maps and instructions for the routes will be available to download nearer the time.

Although there will be clear signage along the routes, please download and/or print off your map and walking instructions and bring them with you on the day. There will be only a few spare copies available at registration.

Dogs are more than welcome on the walks, but must be kept on leads wherever indicated and in accordance with the Countryside Code.

If for any reason you are unable to complete the walk, please let the Walk Coordinator or one of the marshals know. Transport will be available to take you back to Truro College. The Walk Coordinator will always be contactable and will himself be in contact with the marshals on the route.
