Guidance for candidates and agents

Prospective candidates can download generic nomination papers from the Electoral Commission website. They are strongly advised to refer to our Guidance for candidates and agents page.

Nomination packs for candidates are available from our Electoral Services office. Please see our contact details below. (Please note: These packs no longer contain electoral registers for data protection reasons).

Candidates must return completed nomination papers to us by hand by 4pm on Friday 7 June. These must be taken to the location as specified in the Notice of Election for the constituency.

Please contact us to arrange an appointment to submit your nomination papers – our contact details are at the bottom of this page.

We strongly recommend that you wait to have your papers checked by our staff when you hand them in. Papers not correctly completed may be rejected.

Candidates will need to pay a deposit of £500 when they submit their nomination paper. Deposits can only be paid by:

Bank transfer
Bankers draft
Cash (£1 denomination or higher)

Candidate’s Election Expenses

The Electoral Commission has published guidance on candidate’s spending. For expenses purposes, every constituency in Cornwall is a County constituency.

The spending limit is based on a fixed amount, plus a variable amount per registered elector in your constituency.

The candidate’s maximum spending limits for each constituency are as follows:

There is no long campaign at the 2024 UK Parliamentary general election.

New boundaries

New constituency boundaries will be used for the 2024 general election. This follows a review by the independent Boundary Commission for England.
